Following a competitive tender process, Guernsey Ports has appointed Brittany Ferries to operate duty-free retail at both locations. The company will also take over the food and beverage services, which are currently run by Condor Ferries—now majority owned by Brittany Ferries.
As part of the agreement, Brittany Ferries will invest in refurbishing and enhancing both the retail and catering facilities, drawing on its experience in operating similar services at Roscoff in France and onboard its fleet.
David Buddery, Commercial Development Project Manager at Guernsey Ports, said:
“The introduction of duty-free shopping for both vehicle and foot passengers is a fantastic addition to our harbour facilities. Brittany Ferries has committed to upgrading the existing spaces, improving the customer experience and expanding the range and quality of products available. This initiative is part of our wider efforts to enhance services for travellers and diversify our revenue streams.”
Brittany Ferries is currently recruiting Guernsey-based staff to help run the new facilities, creating up to six jobs.
Joëlle Croc, Director of Customer Experience & Onboard Sales at Brittany Ferries, said:
“We are delighted to have been chosen by Guernsey Harbours to provide duty-free shopping and catering for passengers departing from St Peter Port. With our new schedule fast approaching, we are working hard to ensure our retail and dining facilities, along with our newly recruited team, are ready to welcome travellers and deliver an exceptional experience during what promises to be a busy season.”
The new facilities are expected to be ready by early summer.
